Glomerular Disease

Glomerular Disease is a broad category that encompasses numerous kidney diseases that all have a similar pattern of signs and symptoms that mostly damage the glomeruli, which is a part of the kidney that helps with filtering the blood. The most common signs and symptoms include swelling in the legs or around the eyes, worsening kidney function, and high cholesterol levels. Blood tests, urine tests, and often a kidney biopsy can help diagnose glomerular disease. There are several different types of treatments for glomerular disease and these are based on the underlying reason for glomerular disease and often involve some form of immunosuppressive medications.
