Renal Cysts

Cysts are very common in the kidneys. Most cysts in the kidneys are non-cancerous however in rare cases, certain kidney cysts can be of cancerous origin. In some cases, cysts can have concerning features which need to be monitored closely. Cysts are detected in the kidneys most commonly by an ultrasound of the kidneys. Depending on the size and characteristics of the cyst, nephrologists can counsel one on how to proceed and what other testing or imaging may be needed.
